The Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) is a suite of computer modeling tools for predicting the long-term effects of alternative forest management actions. FVS was developed in the early s and is used throughout the United Sates and British Columbia. The Third FVS conference, held February, in Fort Collins Colorado, contains 20 papers.

Havis, Nicholas L. : Forest Vegetation Simulator Conference. Modeling the Forest. The Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) is a forest growth simulation model. It simulates forest vegetation change in response to natural succession, disturbances, and management.

It recognizes all major tree species and can simulate nearly any type of management or disturbance at any time during the simulation. The conference has evolved into one of the premier conferences to attend if you manage forest vegetation on the west coast. The conference is held every January and is accredited for continuing education hours for vegetation mangers from California, Oregon, and Idaho, and for Certified Forester hours through the Society of American Foresters.

Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) e-Conference. The recent FVS e-Conference extended over three days, February 28 to March 2,and included forty presentations.

The first day included presentations on FVS modernization attempts, new variant development and linkages to other models. Conference sponsorship Silver conference sponsor: $ Gold conference sponsor $1, Silver and gold include a listing in the onsite attendee book, placement on posters in conference room and placement on sponsor PowerPoint slides shown during breaks.

PNW Forest Vegetation Management Conference Exhibitor and Sponsorship Opportunities. The Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) e-Conference was the fifth in a series of FVS conferences dating back to It was dedicated to bringing together developers and users of the Forest Vegetation Simulator and had an overall goal of providing the medium to share our experiences, our lessons learned, our triumphs and our failures.

The Third Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS) Conference took place February, in Fort Collins Colorado. The following is a list of the presentations of the conference.

The presentation files are in Microsoft PowerPoint Show format .pps). The U.S. Forest Service and its everwidening circle of FVS collaborators will continue to improve the suite of models and tools that make up the Forest Vegetation simulator.

In a few years it will be worthwhile to convene for a second FVS conference so that we may share our experiences, our lessons learned, our triumphs, and our failures.'. Full text of "Proceedings: Forest Vegetation Simulator Conference: Fort Collins, CO, February" See other formats.
